Moody Moons is currently looking for part-time staff writers and photographers to produce high-quality content for our readers.
If hired, part-time candidates can expect to begin with a monthly article with an opportunity for more work according to how their posts perform.
Qualifications for Writers
Applicants must have the following qualifications to be considered.
-A deep knowledge of the subject matter that would be of interest to our readers. We’re not looking for writers who know everything (who does?).
We’re looking for writers who have studied at least one aspect of modern witchcraft in depth. Whether you read tarot cards fluently, have been practicing Strega in your family for four generations, or are super witch-crafty with a hot glue gun, we want to know what you know!
–Excellent writing skills. You do not need professional writing experience to be considered, or have any particular formal degree. However, if you are new to professional writing, you must be open to constructive critique. If you’ve never worked for a professional publication before, a desire to improve your writing skills is essential. If you take criticism well and have a genuine desire to get better, this is a great opportunity to be mentored by professional writers.
-Must be able to meet deadlines. Ask yourself honestly: Am I reliable? Do I tend to procrastinate or put things off until the last minute? Writing for a digital periodical means producing high-caliber work on time.
Qualifications for Photographers
–Excellent photo editing skills. Applicants for photo submissions must present fully edited photos using professional-quality techniques and software.
-Photographers must be excellent at “reading” the assignment. For example, a typical assignment might be as follows:
“We need a flat-lay image of a 12-card tarot spread with props and styling that convey a full-moon theme.”
If that sounds like you’re idea of a good time, we should talk.
–Style consistency. Photographers must be excellent at producing work that is stylistically consistent with our publication. However, we want to see you flex your creative muscles and produce work that plays to your strengths!
Special consideration for . . .
-Applicants with both writing and photography skills. Applicants who possess both great writing skills and photography skills will be given special consideration. If this is you, please send samples of your writing and photos with your resume.
–SEO knowledge. If you’ve got experience with SEO or promo, please let us know!
